Dear double bass players,

double bass is outstanding, beautifull instrument and I love to play double bass for its strong, wide and colourfull sound. I am also interested in the teaching methods. I have published several textbooks that, in my opinion, contribute to the efficiency and improvement of double bass technique. I also love to play Violone in the so-called “Viennese Tuning” (strings tuned either to A, D, F sharp, A or to F, A, D, F sharp, A). These instruments were mostly used in baroque and classical period music, especially in the Central Europe. They has richer, more melodic sound, thanks to its “chord” tuning, unlike the Double bass used today, which is tuned to E, A, D, G . In the following period from cca second half of the 19th century has been Violones in “Viennese Tuning” gradually replaced by more universal Double basses, which (at the expense of “chord technique” and sound) helped to play more easily in multiple keys. But classical compositions for Violone had to be reduced and rewritten, because otherwise it would not be possible to play them on contemporary, modern Double basses. For Violone in “Viennese Tuning” wrote compostions well-known and famous personalities such as J. M. Sperger, K. D. Dittersdorf, F. A. Hoffmeister, J. K. Vaňhal, A. Zimmermann, V. Pichl and others. My effort is that my sheet music helps music compositions to sound as they sounded at the time of their creation. This is especially important for classical period compositions, for which I also publish sheet music in original “Viennese Tuning”. I hope that you will find in the list of sheet music that you will be interested in and with which you will get a great response from your audience. I publish and add new sheet music. New addition of sheet music I announce on Facebook. If you are interested, you can follow me, see link:  Sebastian Brettfeld

Wish you much success
